Died 8 p.m. Monday, May 23, 1988, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was 78, a native of Homesville, Miss., and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was a retired Ethyl Corp. employee, with 37 years service. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., 11 a.m. Wednesday until religious services at noon, conducted by Bishop Frank W. Roberts. Graveside services at Ellis Cemetery , Franklinton, at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Survived by wife, Theresa Cobb Ward; a stepson, Eddie W. Knippers, Baton Rouge; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ross (Patricia) McNamara, Bountiful, Utah, and Mrs. Daryl (Rae) Kelley, Slidell; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by wife, Maude Foil Ward; parents, AlexanderH. and Sarah Dunaway Ward; and a brother, Jessie Ward. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Will Knippers, Mike McNamara and Charles Bergeron; and nephews, Austin Daniel and Ronnie Bourgeois and Larry Foil. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. H.B. Dean, Dr. Joseph M.Cefalu, retired Chief Justice Joe W. Sanders, Fred Sliman, Joe "Dub" Daniel, Donald Naquin, Leo Audiffred, Pete Carpenter and members of Baton Rouge High Priest Quorum. He was a member of The Church Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ward 1. Memorial donations may be made to The Church Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ward 1 Missionary Fund.
