Judge David L. Bishop, a longtime resident of St. Ignace and for many years Justice of the Peace, passed away early Friday morning at the family home on Church Street at the age of 76 years.
The funeral took place from the resident Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Rev. S. Benson of the Presbyterian Church, officiating. The interment was at Lakeside Cemetery.
The deceased was born in Shiawassee County and the early part of his life was spent on a farm. He moved to Detroit where he engaged in the grocery business until burned out, when he was appointed a deputy sheriff and acted as a peace officer for many years. He came to this city in 1881 and but for a short absence when he lived in Marquette was a resident of this city ever since.
He is survived by a widow.
