son of Addison Marcellus Wall and Maud Pearl Harrison,
Homer Hunter Wall, 87, of Blairstown, died Thursday, July 30, 2009 at Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care in Kansas City.

Homer was born May 13, 1922 in Blairstown, the son of Addison M. and Maude Pearl Harrison Wall. He graduated from Blairstown High School.

He served in the United States Army during World War II, where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge, was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He also served at Normandy.

After returning home to Blairstown, Homer was employed with the U.S. Postal Service as a Postmaster until retiring in 1999.

Throughout his life he lived in the Blairstown area.

Homer married Ruby Marie Krewson on Sept. 1, 1953 and to this union was born five children.

He is survived by sons Addison Wall, Ronald Wall and Charles Wall all of Blairstown; daughters Joan Reid-Smith of Peculiar and Marcia Anstine of Holden.

Survivors also include a brother, Edgar William "Bill" Wall of Blairstown; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Homer was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Walter Wall; a sister Maude Ellen Wall and a grandson Jacob Anstine.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2009 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden with Pastor Lee Ward officiating.

Interment will follow in Wall Cemetery, north of Blairstown, with military graveside honors by the Missouri National Guard, Holden Veterans of Foreign Wars, Memorial Post No. 5844 and Munday-Hancock Post No. 90 of the American Legion.

Pallbearers will be Adam Wall, Jeremy Anstine, Jared Anstine, Anthony Reid, Steve Wall and Jeff Canon.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Aaron Reid, Steve Haller, Ronald Atkins and John Robert Giltner.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Kansas City Hospice House or the Wall Cemetery Association.
