Mrs. Marcella Rice, widow of the late Dan Rice, whose reputation as a circus clown was world-wide, died at Santa Rosa infirmary at 6 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Rice was aged 68 years and had been an invalid for the past 11 years. The funeral was held at 4 o'clock this afternoon and interment was in St. Mary's cemetery.
Mrs. Rice was a native of Tennessee and had lived in Texas since she was six years old. For many years she was a resident of Gonzales, where her first husband, R. L. Greathouse, was a well known citizen. Her first husband died many years ago and 17 years since she became the side of Mr. Rice.
One son, G. W. Greathouse of Fort Worth and a daughter, Sister Roslia, of the Nazareth convent in Victoria, survive Mrs. Rice. Mr. Greathouse is in the city in attendance upon the funeral.
