The service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Zion United Methodist Church, 1030 Carlisle Road, York. Burial will be in Dover Union Cemetery, with Military Rites by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church. The Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Spoon was born in Renick, W.Va. He was the son of the late John R. and Texie Anna (Kellison) Spoon.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving as a staff sergeant in the Marianas, Okinawa and Iwo Jima.
A machine repairman at Caterpillar Inc., York, for 15 years, he retired in 1982. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, the Mount Zion Lodge 74 I.O.O.F., the Dover Fire Company and the American Association of Retired Persons Chapter 3876.
Mr. Spoon also is survived by a son, Blaine R. Spoon of Dover; a daughter, Jocelyn L. Miller of Dover; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Earl Spoon of Shiloh.
Officiating at the service will be his pastors, the Rev. Charles A. Fitzgerald and the Rev. Richard D. Smith and the Rev. William J. Farrell, an Assembly of God minister.
