A Masonic funeral service for John Kennon Connell Sr., 84, of Kennewick, will be Wed., June 2, at 11 a.m. at Chapel of the Falls, 314 W. Kennewick Ave., Kennewick. Interment will be at Metaline Cemetery, Metaline, Wash.

Mueller's Funeral Home in Kennewick is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Connell, who was born in Tampa, Fla., on Nov. 14, 1914, died May 29, 1999.

He worked for WPA, was a banker, and an ironworker at McCloskey Shipyards in Tampa, Fla., when he was younger. In 1936, he married Norma Barber.

He began working on the Manhattan Project in 1944. He worked at Hanford until he retired in 1977. At that time, he moved to Pend Oreille County, Wash., to fish, play golf, and travel. In 1993, he moved back to Kennewick.

His first wife died in 1984 and he married his second wife, Darlene Hunter, in 1984.

Mr. Connell was a member of Benton Lodge 277, F.&A.M. He was a member of Kennewick Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife and children: Naomi and Jerry Stevens of Lubbock, Texas; Nina and John Renkenberger of Cleveland, Ohio; Norma Foxx of Cusick, Wash.; John Jr. and Karen Connell of Hermiston, Ore.; Louie "Bill" and Marilyn Hunger of Kennewick; Willa and Harold Livingston of Finley; and Mary Rumbolz of Kennewick. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and two sisters: Juanita Papy and Dellue Reed of Tampa, Fla.

Memorial contributions may be made to Talking Book and Braille Library, Seattle, Wash., or Masonic Home. Visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chapel of the Falls.
