Nathan and Martha raised three children: Ola Mae Messer (Williamson), Fred Messer, and Lloyd Garland Messer. Nathan was struck by a car on Gum Log Road in Georgia near the Many Forks Baptist Church on August 2, 1938 and was rushed to the Petrie Hospital in Murphy, NC. The efforts of the doctors there could not save him and he died on August 5, 1938 from his injuries.
He was survived by his parents, his wife, his children, and his many friends. In our family tree, Nathan is my maternal Great-Grandfather.
