Such is the feelingwith which we record the death of Vera Hollis, one of the brightest and sweetest girls it has been our fortune to know. One week ago today she was in apparently as good health and spirits as usual, but her illness and death overcame her rapidly. Thursday night she was taken violently ill with peritonitis. On Sunday night she was removed to the hospital, where an operation was performed, which, however, had been delayed too long to save her. Nearly all of the physicians in the city put their best skill and knowledge to the case, but it availed nothing. Her death occurred at eleven-thirty o'clock, Tuesday night, with one member of the family at her bedside, her brother Charles, who has scarcely left her side during her illness.
