John A. James, 78, of Norwood, died Sunday morning in Port Arthur, Tex., while visiting his daughter, Mrs. W.W. Welch. A native of this section, he was a well known horse trainer and was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his widow, Lucy Lee James; one son, S.A. James; six daughters, Mrs. Welch, Mrs. Harvey Pichnic and Mrs. George Laurents of Cameron, Mrs. Jan St. John and Mrs. W.S. Atwood of Laker Charles and Mrs. Virgil Easley of Orange, Tex.; one brother, Walter James of Longview, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Ella McQueen and Miss Elizabeth James of Jackson; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
