ASLEEP IN JESUS
Martha Eliza, daughter of M.A. and Florence Evans, was born in Marshall County Miss. July 30, 1875, and departed this life November 22, 1894.
We laid her body to rest in the Lebanon Cemetery but her spirit returned to Him who said, "I go to prepare a place for you that where I am there ye may be also." To her parents she was kind and obedient, shedding forth in the home the light of love, purity and meekness.
She professed faith in Christ when quite young, and her life has been consistent and worthy the imitation of us all. She loved to go to the house of the Lord to hear His word expounded and join in singing the sweet songs of Zion She has been heard to speak both in public and private of the love of Jesus, and his power to save from sin. The last long that she was heard to play and sing was "Are you ready for the Judgement Day." We believe from her testimony and life that she was ready for that day. Why this lovely girl that had just bloomed into womanhood was taken we know not. The poet tells us that God moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform
the bereaved parents and all the family have out deepest sympathy in this dark hour of trial.
