Mr. Duncan took time after retiring to whittle over 200 wooden chains. On one of his many trips, he found a hawk's nest in Colorado, which is displayed at the Agri-plex. He loved hunting, his dogs, and hardly ever missed a day fishing. He and his family have traveled to much of the United States, including Alaska and the Panama Canal. Later in his life, after the passing of Emma, he moved to the Ada Baptist Retirement Village. During his time there, he at the age of 87 met and married Lois Watson Holmes. They both lived there until Elmer was moved to a nursing home a short time ago. Those who preceded him in death include siblings, Delbert, James and Paul Duncan and Thelma Golden.
