WILFRED P ELLIS, 87, of Cocoa, FL died at home - he was the son of Wilfred A and Agnes Ellis. Wilfred grew up in Cape Cod, ME, was a retired, 25 year, SMSGT in the U.S. Air Force serving in WWII, Korean Conflict, Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. He received a special commendation for his participation in the Cuban Missile Crisis awarded to him by President John F Kennedy. Retiring from the military, Wilfred was employed by RCA Company as the navigator, tracking missiles from his last assignment on the USNS General Vandenberg. Surviving are children: Marshall, Keith, Matthew (Mona), Gail (Alfred) Danforth, Denice (Raymond) Beans and Melanie Ellis of Cocoa; brothers, Richard (Buzzie) and Jerald both of Cocoa, Hugh of Hyannis, MA; Carroll of College Park, MD and sisters, Connie Ellis and Marsha Wilber of Harwich Port, MA and Marie Fernandes of S Yarmouth, MA; grandchildren and great-grandchildrenl He was was preceded in death by daughters, Julie and Mary Ellis; brother, Ronald Ellis and granddaughter, Grace Elijah. Visitation hours will be held on Saturday, August 15th at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home followed by burial with Military Honors. Published in FLORIDA TODAY on 8/13/2009.
