The Rev. Dr. Calvin Grier Davis was the President of Montreat-Anderson College (Now Montreat College) from 1959 to 1972. During his tenure the college experienced growth from a small Church college to a major Christian College. He oversaw the college during times of great stress during the late 1960's and 70's. Prior to his Presidency he was the Pastor for five years of First Presbyterian Church in Asheville, North Carolina. Before his arrival in North Carolina he had been the Pastor of Second Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, Virginia.
Dr. Davis was a minister of the Presbyterian Church. He studied at Hendrix College in his home state of Arkansas. This was followed by graduation (19279 from Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina.
Following his death one of the Men's Residence Halls was named in his honor.
He was the author of a number of books.
He was the son of Coleman Robert Davis and Ollie Hillard. They were the parents of two Children.
