Died at 63 at St Mary's Hospital in Walla Walla, WA on November 23, 1978, Thanksgiving day and interned at Heppner Masonic Cemetery. Born in Ava on 6/28/1915 and along with her adoptive parents Henderson and Mary Ellen Medlock Stout she moved to Eastern Oregon in 1918 and lived there ever since. Survived by Husband James J Hayes, Son James H Hayes of Heppner, brother Everet Stout of Olympia, WA and two grand sons.

Note:
Blackburn Stout married his second wife Nancy Jane Medlock on December 28, 1912 and they had a little girl. Nancy died November 20, 1915. The story that has been passed down in the family (As relayed by Blackburn's children) is that when Nancy Jane Medlock Stout died one of her sisters took the little baby girl to raise her.
Nancy only had two sisters. Sinthy "Annie" Medlock Elliott and Mary Ellen Medlock Stout. Ann did not have any female children born in the time Blackburn and Nancy were married. She did have a baby boy, a son named Manie Elliott born July 11, 1914. Adopting a baby when you have one 17 months old doesn't sound reasonable. Mary on the other hand had just lost an infant born January 24, 1914 some 20 months before. Vivian was born June 28, 1915. That would seem logical that Mary was the sister who took Nancy Jane's baby to raise and that baby was Vivian. Henderson Stout was Blackburn's uncle.

Taken and raised as their own by: Henderson and Mary Ellen Medlock Stout. Fred Wale (step grand son)
