Born a British subject, died an American citizen.

ASA KELLOGG was the son of RUTH ROOT and SILAS KELLOGG.

He was a Revolutionary War soldier, rank of sergeant, at the age of 32 in the regiment of Col. JOHN BROWN and Capt. ENOCH NOBLE, serving for 30 days from 29 June 1777 until 28 July 1777.

DAR Ancestor #A064323.

On 27 Feb 1766 he married LUCY POWELL in Sheffield, MA.

Their known children:

1) Frederick Kellogg b. 1766 d. 1832.
2) Ezra Kellogg 1769 - 1836.
3) Martin Kellogg 1771 - 1854.
4) Charles Kellogg 1773 - 1842.
5) Warren Kellogg 1775 - 1782.
6) Asa Kellogg 1777 - 1836.
7) Lucy Kellogg 1779 - 1851.
8) Electa Kellogg 1782 - 1782.
9) Warren Kellogg 1783 - 1835.
10) Alexander Cyrus Kellogg 1785 - 1846.
11) Electa Kellogg 1788 - 1839.

Later in life some records list ASA as "Deacon". His wife LUCY was a listed member of the First Associate Presbyterian Church in Galway, so it is most likely he was a deacon of the same church. According to his historical records he was the Galway Commissioner of Highways in 1793. The motif on his headstone is a weeping willow, commonly seen on markers in this area and possibly a trademark of a particular stonecutter.

Note: Special thanks to P. Fazzini for providing ASA'S DAR Ancestor number.
