Dr. Sylvia Meyers Tuinei, Phd. [DA,AK 9/63] passed away at age 62 in Orem, Utah on March 22, 2005. She served in the Tokyo mission home during NFE days. She was born in Hilo, Hawaii and in her last years moved to West Jordan and Magna, UT. She has 5 sons and 6 daughters, 2 sisters, and 28 grandchildren.

She obtained her doctorate by authoring a dissertation on the legends and known facts of the Hawaiian Nation and their descendancy from the Children of Israel. She ardently advocated the cause of a free Hawaiian nation in her seminars and training sessions with the citizens of Hawaii based upon her conclusion the US has improperly appropriated the Hawaiian Islands as a territory and state.
