Sinclair Archibald dies
FRANKLIN - James Sinclair Archibald, 101, of Franklin, a retired carpenter and Delaware County's oldest resident, died Monday, August 18 at his home. Mr. Archibald had been in failing heath for the past six months.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 21, at the Congregational Baptist Church, Franklin, with the Rev. Daniel Hulseapple, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Oulenut Valley Cemetery, Franklin.

Mr. Archibald was born in Bovina on October 14, 1867, a son of James and Mary (Lurin) Archibald. He was twice married,first to Rosa Archibald whom he married in New Kingston. Mrs. Archibald died in 1942. On April 4, 1944 he married Rut Bennett of Franklin.

He was a carpenter by trade and on moving to Franklin he operated the Jersey farm now known as the Dorr-Rich Farm and sold milk in Franklin.

He was chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Congregational Baptist Church Franklin, for many years. He also was a member of the Franklin Village Board for many years.

Mr. Archibald was always interested in civic affairs at Franklin and prior to his residence there he was the manager of an estate in Cleveland, Ohio.

Surviving are his wife and daughter, Miss M. Leone Archiblad, Oneonta.

Friends may call at the Bennett Funeral Home, Franklin, at their convenience Wednesday.

The family will be in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
