James Armstrong was a Toronto businessman. He and his wife, Mary Ann, lived in their estate "Windycroft" in Toronto.

On 27 April, 1884, James ARMSTRONG, bachelor, and Mary Anne BROMLEY, spinster, of Toronto were married by J. Philip DuMOULIN, at St. James Church, Toronto.

He abd his wife attended St. Paul's church, Bloor St. On his death in 1919, his widow donated a stained glass "Rose Window" to that church in his memory.
