This memorial was made with love and respect.

John was a U.S. Army Veteran.

John was born to Raymond and Pauline Martinez, in Carpinteria, CA.

John was married to my cousin Maria, they married 23 September 1958 at Riverside, California..

John Martinez was a wonderful intelligent man; he married my cousin Maria. My cousin "Chiyo" as we called her, was visiting us in Arizona, planning to stay with us several months. When John saw her, well he fell in love. My dad sent Chiyo back home to her parents in Mexico, because John was interested in courting her. But John persued her to Mexico. My cousin returns back to the U.S. and stays with us in our home and eventually they marry.

When I was a little girl, Cousins John & Chiyo would take my brother and me to the movies with them. They took us to see Frankenstein which frieghtened me, I remember putting my feet up on the seat because I was afraid Frankenstein might crawl under the seats and grab my legs, we also saw Dracula. I'm sure he took us to see other movies, although I don't recall them, but these two movies left me frightened for a long time.

John was always kind to me, he would speak to me about school and tell me which subjects I should take that would benefit me most. He encouraged me to stay in school and get an education. I now realize he was looking out for me and wanted the best for me. His kindness meant a lot to me, even more now. John was a very good man. God Bless you, John, now and always.
