Gertrude E. Pyan
Gertrude E. Pyan, 85, Wausau, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2008, at Marywood Convalescent Center, Wausau, under Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Gertrude was born May 23, 1922, in the town of Stettin, to the late Otto and Esther (Anklam) Hintz. She married Lawrence "Larry" Pyan on Feb. 7, 1942, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, in the town of Stettin. Larry preceded her in death July 9, 2003.
Gertrude worked for the Christian Book Store in shipping and receiving until her retirement. She was a member of the Ladies Aid and the quilting clubs at church. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors Association, American Legion Auxiliary Montgomery-Plant Post No. 10, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Burns Post No. 388. Gertrude volunteered to entertain at many nursing homes in the area. She had a love for dogs, especially Boston Terriers.
Gertrude is survived by nieces and nephews; and her Boston Terrier, Missy. She was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Hintz.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at the St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the church.
