George Calvin Bare, 89, Milo, died Friday, May 9, 1992, at Nevada City Hospital, following an illness of several months.
The son of James Nelson Bare and Nannie Edgar (Lucas) Bare, he was born Nov. 21, 1902, in Vernon County.
He married Carolina Mae Orem Bare on Dec. 22, 1920, in Milo. She died April 26, 1987.
Mr. Bare made his home in Vernon County in the Milo-Sheldon area all his life, and was a farmer. He attended Ferry School in the county. He was a Charter member of the Milo Christian Church.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Glesna, Jim, Bill and Buster Bare; and two sisters, Nannie Shouse and Beulah Creamer; and sons-in-law, Wayne E. Doolin and Darrell L. Thomas of Kansas City.
Survivors include two daughters, Nanabel Doolin of Milo, Dorothy M. Thomas, Kansas City; five grandchildren, Scotty Doolin, Milo, Janice Mitchell, Sheldon, Brad Doolin, Milo, Rhonda Karr, N. Kansas City, and Phil Thomas, Kansas City; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Charley Bare, Fairfield, Calif.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Beeny-Ferry Funeral Home, Sheldon, with the Rev. Keith Wilcox officiating.
Music was provided by Bill Close, soloist, and Wanda Kannady, musician.
Interment was in Sheldon Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clayton Cavanaugh, Jack Brown, Jerry Fanning, Lloyd Pilcher, Don Doolin and Howard Dale.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
