Funeral services for Patrick T. Marney, age 54, of Centennial Terrace, Ogdensburg, will be held on Monday, September 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Cathedral with Rev. Terry LaValley officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home. Mr. Marney passed away Friday afternoon at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center Emergency Room.
Mr. Marney is survived by two brothers, Danny and his wife, Patricia, of Oxford, MI and James and his wife, Lisa, of Oswego; two sisters, Mary Hludzenski and her husband, James, of Watertown and Julie Marney of Littlestown, PA; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Michael, and a sister, Angie.
Mr. Marney was born on September 7, 1953 in Ogdensburg, the son of Timothy and Mary Ann LaVigne Marney. After the death of his parents, he was raised by Frank and Mary Lavigne. Mr. Marney graduated from OFA in 1972 and from Morrisonville Community College. He received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, NV. He first worked for Disney World in Florida. When he returned to Ogdensburg, he worked at the Gran View Restaurant where he worked for over twenty years. He later worked for Wal-Mart Corporation in Ogdensburg, transferring to their Marlboro, MA location and again transferring to their Latham, New York location. Due to illness, Mr. Marney retired in 1997. He was a former member of the Ogdensburg Lion's Club, past director of the Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce, and a communicant of St. Mary's Parish where he served on Parish Council. He was a Eucharistic Minister and Chairman of the Social Committee. He served as the county-wide chairman of the American Cancer Society Crusade for several years. He also organized the Sensational 70's Reunion and oversaw its subsequent OFA Scholarship. He was a volunteer at the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club Expo and the Seaway Festival Organization. He was also a past recipient of the Baltimore Ravens Worker of the Year Award.
