Max Stanley Grudzinski, the son of Henry I. and Marguerite A. (Cotten) Grudzinski, was born in Marquette, Nebraska on December 14, 1936 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on August 15, 2009, at the age of 72.

He grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School in 1954. Max worked in several grocery stores, a gas station, a theater and a hardware store prior to joining the U.S. Navy.

Max was united in marriage to Shirley J. Gray on September 1, 1974 at Memphis, Tennessee. Max served 30 years in the U.S. Navy retiring in January 1989 as Command Master Chief. The last 13 years he has worked for International Sensors Systems, Inc.

Max was a member of The Aurora Community Team (T.A.C.T) an affiliate of the Drug-Free Nebraska Program and the Adult Basic Education Council. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, woodworking and working in his yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Robert Grudzinski.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Shirley of Aurora; children, Clayton (Amy) Grudzinski of Aurora, Crystal (Jason) Dieckmann of Aurora and, Stephanie (Walter) Hilliard of Munford, Tennessee; 5 grandsons; 5 granddaughters and one great-grandson. He is also survived by two sisters, Joann (Gordon) Leaf of Divide, Colorado and Karen (David) Heckman of Lincoln; nieces and nephews, Sandi (Carl) Rooney of Clearwater, Florida, Jeff (Anne) Leaf of Lincoln, Chris Heckman of Tempe, Arizona and Jon Heckman of Denver, Colorado.
