Winifred Irene Wood Jones passed away in Lyle, Washington on September 2, 2006 at the age of 98. She was born on August 8, 1908 in Withrow, Washington to Rockwell Joseph Wood and Amanda Irene Arnett Wood.

At age five Winifred left her home in Washington and moved with her mother and one of her brothers to California. She lived in many different places in California and attended many different schools. In 1918 she returned to Washington, and in 1921, moved with her mother and her stepfather to Trout Lake, where her stepfather Ernest Reed was pastor of the Presbyterian Church. While attending church Winnie met Arthur Jones. They were married May 28, 1927. They became the parents of two daughters, Shirley Lee and Ardith Irene.

During all the years of her marriage Winifred lived in Trout Lake where she and her husband operated a small dairy farm. After Arthurs death in 1968 she became the librarian for Trout Lake School, where she served for seven years.

In 1975 she sold her Trout Lake home and moved into an apartment in Klamath Falls, Oregon to be near her daughter Ardith and family. Winnie lived there for 23 years and enjoyed her downtown neighborhood. She enjoyed walking and made many friends.

In 1998 Winifred returned to Trout Lake with her daughter and son-in-law, Ardith and Lloyed, where the family moved into a new home. There, Winnie enjoyed her daily walk to the post office. She attended church on Sunday and enjoyed eating at the local restaurant where her favorite was coffee and ice cream.

On February 14, 2004, she entered an adult family home in Lyle where she was lovingly cared for by Barbara Sexton and her staff until the time of her death.

Winifred is mourned by her family: two daughters, Shirley and Ardith, and her son-in-law Lloyd; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. May the Lord guide and comfort the family and friends of Winifred Jones.
