Cyrus E. Barnes Dies In Texas

Cyrus E. Barnes, 77, a resident of the Weatherford community for 14 years, died Friday morning at Borger, Texas, where he had lived since 1924 [sic]. He died shortly after suffering a heart attack at a blacksmith shop.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Borger at 2:30 p.m. Monday. Burial was in Highland Park cemetery.

Barnes moved from Washita county to this community in 1910, living on a farm just east of Weatherford for 14 years. He moved to Bristow in 1927 and three years later moved to Borger where he made his home continuously until his death.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lee Dora Barnes; one son, Fletcher Barnes, of Kilgore, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. D.M. Specter, of Borger and Mrs. Genevive Stewart, of Amarillo, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Nell Smith, of Detroit, Mich; two brothers, Albert and Carl Barnes, of Lindsay, Oklahoma.
