William Thomas Albertson 20 year old son of Twyla Gilliam Albertson and William W. Albertson of 121 North Marion street of Ottumwa was killed instantly in a two car collision on Highway #61 West of Davenport late Friday afternoon.
Scott County authorities said he was driving a car owned by Paul McKeever of Agency route 1 which was stolen from the 300 block of West Main Street in Ottumwa last Monday evening.
Driver of the other car involved in the crash was Alden B. Robbins 49 of Davenport; was reported in fair condition at a Davenport hospital today. He received facial cuts.
Authorities say that an inquest into the accident is planned for next Monday.
For several hours officers were unable to identify the dead youth because he carried no identification. Later Lon Cox of Davenport identified Albertson as a long time friend.
Cox said the youth had been staying with him for several days.
Albertson the son of William W. and Twyla Gilliam Albertson was born in Ottumwa Aug. 30, 1934 at Ottumwa. He attended Doughlas and Washington schools here. He was discharged from the Navy last fall.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Johnson funeral home at Ottumwa at 3 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Art Howard, Walter Deevers, Everette Shields, B.J. Vest, Walter Albertson and Edward Deevers. Albertson was killed instantly at 4:15 p.m. Friday.
