Mrs. Sadie Frye Shortt White, 88, of South Peace Heaven Road died Dec. 14, 2002, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born in Yadkin County on March 16, 1914, to William Monroe and Nancy Colbert Frye, being the youngest of 12 children. Mrs. White was a member of Jonestown Baptist Church and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaston M. Shortt, and sons John and Don. She is survived by her children, Gaston M. Shortt Jr., Larry D. Shortt, both of Winston-Salem, Nancy Doub of Advance and Norma Clay of Oklahoma; a sister, Martha Spainhour, of Winston-Salem who was present at her homegoing; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at Jonestown Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Lockwood officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
