Lottie L. Sleek
daughter of John and Susana Sleek, was born in Pennsylvania, November 11, 1854; departed this life in the hospital at Elkhart, November 20, 1923, aged 69 years and 9 days.
Her first marriage was to Peter Shellhouse in 1889. He met his untimely fate in a cyclone which visited Albion, and was burned to death in his residence.
Her second marriage was to Julius Zack in 1911; to them one child was born, who is now 11 years of age. Mrs. Zack's home was in Albion the most of her life. The last few years she made her home in Elkhart. She was a member of the Mennonite church.
She leaves to mourn her loss, one son, Julius, one sister, Mrs. Wilbur Fuller, of Albion, one brother William Sleek of Garrett, nephews, nieces and other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the home of her niece, Mrs. Ed Nicodemus, and husband of this place on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 22, conducted by Rev. H.W. Franklin of the U.B. church; and interment in the Albion cemetery.
[Note that Albion Cemetery is now called Rose Hill Cemetery. The surviving sister is Adella Sleek; the niece is Adella's daughter Mary (Rottger) Nicodemus.]
