Galena, Kans., Nov 8. -- Corporal Wallace Bryce Martin, 23, years old, radio operator on a B-28 Super-fortress, was killed in action in China on Oct 25, according to information received yesterday by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Noah Martin, Sr. who live east of Galena. Martin, who was home on a brief furlough Sep 21, had been in the service about two years. He received his basic training at Sioux Falls, S. D., attended radio training school in Philadelphia, and received additional training at Madison, Wis., and Clovis, N. M. The last news from him was a letter written Oct 19, in India, and it is presumed that he had been stationed there about a week when he was killed. He had lived in the Galena vicinity all his life. Surviving, besides his parents, are his widow, Mrs. Allyne Martin, Joplin route 3; a small son, Wallace Bryce Martin; four sister, Mrs Alfred Rice, Mrs. George Shaw, Mrs. Raymond Cagle and Mrs. George Starks, all of Galena; two brothers, Noah Martin, Jr., Joplin route 3, and Walter Martin of of Trona California.
