Larry Marvin Jones, 63, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2009 at his home in Monroe. He was born October 24, 1945, in Murray, Utah to Ivan LaMar and Clea Priscilla Miller Jones.

He married Charlene Ronnell Hall February 28, 1969 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He served a work mission for the LDS Church in Arizona and South Dakota in 1963. He also served a proselytizing mission in New Zealand in 1966.
He earned a Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University. He taught several years at the Sevier Valley Vocational Center (Snow College) and owned his own construction and heating/air businesses in Sevier County.

Larry loved spending time in the mountains on his horse and hunting and fishing with his sons. He enjoyed watching sporting events, especially following the local high school teams and his grandchildren's various activities. He also enjoyed spending quiet time on his back porch in the beauty of his yard by the side of his wife.

Larry served as bishop of the Monroe 2nd Ward and various other callings in the LDS church.

He is survived by his spouse, Chalene Ronnell Jones and by his children: Todd Jones, Chandler, AZ; Tonia Bennett (Steven), St. George; Sharon Tapahe (Eugene), Provo; Darryl Sam (Katherine), Queen Creek, AZ; Delia Jones,California; Travis Jones,Holladay; Elisha Simmons (Trent), Nephi; and Trent Jones (Jessica), Central; 24 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter; brothers and sisters, Carreen Jensen,Boulder City, CA; LaMar Jones (Gundi), West Valley, Richard Jones, Salt Lake City; Janet Muramoto (Curtis), West Valley, Ilene Rickard (Ted), Olympia,WA; Darwin Gillette (Annette), Alpine; and George Gillette (Raeann), Kearns.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Clea Priscilla Miller Jones; grandson, Steven Clark Bennett, Jr.; brother-in-law, Paul Jensen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the Monroe Stake Center (205 S Main). Burial will be in the Monroe Cemetery.
