Mary Edna Blanton Bobbitt, 97,died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.

Formerly of Statesville, she was was born on Aug. 2, 1911, and was a native of Kings Mountain, daughter of the late Paul Durham and Minnie Dellinger Blanton.

She was married to the Rev. Clarence B. Bobbitt on Dec. 22, 1928, and he died on April 24, 1992.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Jack B. Bobbitt, daughter, Shirley Bobbitt Lail; four brothers, Clyde, Burl, James and Charlie Blanton; three sisters, Evelyn Sellers and Lucille Bullard and Pearl Richard; one grandson, Michael Blackwood; and one great-granddaughter, Angela B. Keller.

She was a homemaker who helped her husband with his ministry, a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Statesville and served as a Baptist minister's partner for almost 50 years over North Carolina.

Interment will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain.
