She was married to Harvey Cooper Hammond for47 years. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2007.
She was a former nurses' aide at the Haven Convalescent Home. She enjoyed traveling and visiting casinos, flower gardening and making crafts. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Survived by a daughter, Leigh Hammond of Baltimore; a son, Thomas Hammond and his wife, Maureen, of McMurray, Pa.; four grandchildren, Mark Dewberry, Kimberly Fitzgerald, Zachary Hammond and Mackenzie Hammond; and a great-grandchild, Madison Fitzgerald.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Thomas Prentice; a brother, Clarence Hogue; and two sisters, Evelyn Welsh and Elsietta Hobel.
Visitation will be tomorrow at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 3000 Wilmington Road, from 5 to 8 p.m.A service will be conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev.
