Lynn Robert Daugherty, son of Albert Nichol Daugherty, was born December 30, 1887, and died January 13, 1944, of complications, in Danville Hospital. He graduated in 1910 from the State College High School, where he was a member of the school's first football team. In 1914, he graduated from Penn State where he was a member of the wrestling and gymnastics team, having been captain of the latter team for two years. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon social fraternity. He was an ardent sportsman, served several years on the State College Borough Council, and was a charter member of the Rotary Club there. For 25 years he was affiliated with the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company. He served in World War I. He was an active member of the State College Methodist Church. On June 6, 1918, he married Mary K. Ray, who died in January 1919. On September 18, 1920, he married Edna Mary Updegraff with whom he had two sons. Lynn's son, Albert, said that his father shot a turkey during hunting season for 17 straight years.
