COREA - Harvey L. Crowley, 70, passed at his home in Corea following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born the son of Louisa (Backman) & Lindell Crowley. Harvey graduated from Beals High School, class of 1953. He was particularly proud that he was a member of two of the State Championship basketball teams. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Harvey was a lifelong fisherman, having started lobster fishing at the age of 8 with his mother as his "sternman".
He is survived by his wife, Sally A. Crowley; his daughter, Patty M. Carter & her husband Howard; her mother, Mildred S. Crowley of Birch Harbor, & Danielle L. Crowley; his grandchildren, Frank L. Miller Jr. and Rachel A. Miller; his beloved sister Alverda M. & husband Stanley; brother Larry and companion Lisa M. Look; his Uncle Jr. and wife Norma Backman; his aunt, Rebecca Graves; his stepchildren Elizabeth Humery and Jerome Humery of West Hills; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at the Gouldsboro Methodist Church with a graveside service with military honors being held at the Sewall Field Cemetery on Beals Island.
