Nampa Boy Identified In Drowning

Doran Anderson, 10, Middle Fork Victim In Primitive Area

McCall--Valley County Coroner Burton Walker Friday identified as 10-year-old Doran Anderson of Nampa the boy who drowned Thursday in the middle fork of the Salmon River in Idaho's primitive area.

Walker said the boy apparently slipped from a rock and rolled into a deep hole in the stream. The drowning occurred about four miles downstream from the Morgan Ranch, about 85 airline miles north of Boise.

Walker said the boy was fishing with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley D. Anderson of Nampa, Route 3; an uncle, Dick Lemon of Boise, and a brother.

The five were along a stretch of the river with Doran fishing from a rock. Others noticed he was missing and investigation showed he had fallen and rolled into the water.

The father started for the Morgan Ranch to get help but in his absence Lemon was able to snag the boy's clothing with a fishline and pulled him from the water. Efforts to revive him were futile.

Doran Wayne Anderson was born July 6, 1952 in Nampa. He was a fifth grade student at Kenwood School in Nampa and was a member of the Bethel Nazarene Sunday School in Nampa.

Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother, Gale, 12, and a sister, Debra Lee, 7, both at home; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Frank Anderson of Nampa; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Al P. Wilson of Meridian; and his paternal great-grandfather, John T. Anderson of Brigham City, Utah.

Services will be announced by Robison Chapel in Meridian.
