Ustick Woman Dies at Home

Mrs. Eliza A. Burkholder died at her home in Ustick Wednesday morning after a lingering illness. Mrs. Burkholder was born in Goveruneur, N. Y. in 1857, and 10 years later she came west with her foster parents, Dr. and Mrs. S. V. Tompkins. They settled in Denmark, Iowa.

On September 16, 1875 she married George Dallas Burkholder and after her husband's death in 1889, she began teching school. In the spring of 1892 she moved with her family to Fort Madison, Iowa and taught in the schools there until 1909, and then came to Idaho.

Moves to Ustick in 1913.

In 1913 Mrs. Burkholder moved to Ustick and has made her home there since that time. She taught at Valley View, Cloverdale and Victory schools until failing health compelled her to retire from the teaching profession.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Stilwell of Payette and Mrs. D. I. Foreman of Caldwell; two sons, Leonard Burkholder of St. Louis, Mo. and George L. Burkholder of Ustick; a foster brother, F. W. Tompkins of Denmark, Iowa; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Services Today.

Funeral services will be held at the Ustick Baptist Church Friday at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Roscoe H. Burke officiating. Burial will be in the Meridian Cemetery. Friends wishing to see the body are requested to do so at the church before 2:30 p.m. as the coffin will not be opened after the service.
