Funeral services for B. F. Parker, one of Union County's most esteemed citizens, were conducted at Union Baptist Church, of which the deceased was a member. The pastor, Rev. Mr. Burris, conducted the service, assisted by Rev. D. L. Pressler, and Rev. J. D. Heart. The sons of the deceased acted as pallbearers.

Mr. Parker was 75 years of age. He was born and reared in Union County. He married Miss Della Cox, who died about ten years ago.

Mr. Parker was known to be a man of sterling worth. He was a farmer, and followed his occupation all his life. He stood by the public schools in his district, he served for many years on the county school board, and was one of the early trustees of Wingate College. He helped found Union Baptist Church about 35 years ago, and was the last of the original board of deacons. He served as superintendent of Sunday school for many years and upon retiring from active leadership was made honorary superintendent for life. He also served Union County as magistrate for a number of years.

The sons and daughters who survive are L. L. Parker, Marshville; J. L. Parker, Douglas, Ga.; Mrs. C. L. Gulledge, Monroe; H. L. Parker, Lanes Creek; Mrs. T. K. Helms, Wingate; Mrs. E. J. Miller, Jefferson, S. C.; B. C. Parker, Marshville; Miss Sarah Parker, Union County; J. C. Parker, Knoxville; Mrs. W. F. Tillett, Greenville, N. C.; J. P. Parker, Inman, S. C.; and W. V. Parker, of the faculty of the University of North Carolina.
