He was born Billy Joe Camfield to older parents who were still saddened by the loss of a daughter who died in 1918 from influenza. While he was born in Mineral Wells, Texas his other persona was born Icky Twerp in Fort Worth, Texas on KTVT-TV; Channel 11's Slam Bang Theater and the audience of North Texas could not get enough of the slap stick comedy that he provided. Locally produced Twerp skits were the lead-ins for syndicated cartoons and Three Stooges episodes. In 1991, with disheartening swiftness, Bill Camfield developed brain cancer. He died that year at age 62.
