Mrs. Mary Quilter, 84, Dies Early today from Life's Infirmities. Funeral Rites Monday.
One of the most estimable women of the community, Mrs. Mary Quilter, died early today at her home on East Main St. In failing health for some time, her friends had long recognized the gravity of her condition and were prepared for the end that came peacefully.
It was while her parents, Bernard and Eliza McStay were en route from Ireland to this country in 1854 that she was born at New Foundland, April 10 of that year.
The McStays settled in Beaver county and it was in New Brighton 1n 1870, that the decedent was married to Matthew Quilter, who passed in death in this city in 1890. For over 60 years, Mrs. Quilter lived in East Palestine, honored and loved by all who knew her.
Three daughters survive: Mrs. I.M. Reed of Beaver; Mrs. Julia Haley and Miss Margaret Quilter, both of this city, also three sons: Frank Quilter of Louisville, Oh; Thomas and William of this city. Nine grandchildren remain.
Funeral rites will take place Monday at 9 am from St. Mary's church in which she was long a devoted member. The Rev. Fr. Joseph Heid will be the officiant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
