Matt Quilter Has Expired
East Main Street Man Dies of Dropsy at Mother's Home

Prolonged illness of dropsy terminated Tuesday evening at 5 o'clock when Matthew Quilter, aged 33 years, died in the home of his mother, Mrs. Mary Quilter, East Main street.
Three years ago Quilter was stricken with rheumatism and for several weeks took treatment at Mt. Clemens. Since than his heart has been weak, and when dropsy later developed his condition became critical. Since last March he has been an invalid and his illness involved great suffering.

On Dec. 31, 1887, Matthew Quilter was born in East Palestine. He has always made this city his home and was employed prior to his illness at the McGraw Tire and Rubber company's plant. He was one of a family of nine children, six of whom survive.
Quilter was a young man who enjoyed a wide circle of friends in this vicinity. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church and of the order of Knights of Columbus.
With his mother, Mrs. Mary Quilter, the following brothers and sisters survive: Frank, Thomas and William Quilter, Mrs. I.M.Reed, Midland; Mrs. Julia Haley, Pittsburgh, and Miss Margaret Quilter at home.
The funeral will take place Thursday morning from St. Mary's Catholic church. Interment will be made in the Catholic cemetery north of town.
