Obituary
Milton K. DeWitt was born in Ohio, April 7, 1849, his mother having died when he was but a few days old. He was reared by his foster mother, Mrs. Dr. Covel, to whom he was greatly attached. His early life was largely spent on the farm in Illinois and Iowa. Was married September 7, 1873 to Minerva Thompson and moved to Minnesota in 1899, where his wife died in 1901 and in 1904 he was married to Mrs. L.L. Crofut of Manhattan, Kansas, and in 1908 hoping to improve his health he moved to Colorado, but came to Arkansas City in December of the same year. Bought the Randall farm south of the city where he resided until the time of his death, which occurred March 13, 1913. Aged 63 years, 11 months and 8 days. He leaves to mourn for him, his wife, six children, and three step-children. He was converted when young and was a member of the M.E. church for the past thirty-nine years. A patient sufferer, never speaking a cross word and ever thoughtful of others during his seven months illness, ready and willing to go when the "Master called." The funeral was held at the home Saturday afternoon, March 15 and was conducted by Rev. Penniman. Interment was made in Mercer cemetery.
