Notes for REUBEN CLIFFORD EK:

Reuben Clifford Ek was born March 30, 1899 to Albert and Hannah Ek, in a small four-room house just west of the Marion Hill Lutheran Church. This small home was located just east of the creek. A home was later built west of the creek and this is where he grew up. Reuben, as a small child developed Rheumatic Fever, which caused him to live with an enlarged heart.

His Obituary:

Reuben Ek, a lifelong resident of the area, died unexpectedly at his home near Dwight about 3 o'clock A.M. on Wednesday, June 16, 1954. A heart attack caused his death. He had suffered with a heart ailment the past four or five years but had not been ill recently and had been in Dwight on Tuesday.

Born in the Stone Chapel community, he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ek. He had farmed near Dwight nearly all his life and maintained a strong Holstein cow herd.

Mr Ek also was greatly interested in greyhounds and had raced some of those he owned.

Surviving him are his mother, Mrs Albert Ek, who lives in Dwight; his wife, the former Luella Briix; one son, Lt. jg. Don Ek, now stationed at Guam; and three daughters: Mrs. Keith Morgan, Mrs Kenneth Morgan of Dwight and Maxine Ek of the home.

He leaves one brother, Roland Ek of Dwight; two sisters, Mrs. John Erickson of the Antelope community and Mrs. Ted Strahl of Granby, Mo.; and four grandchildren.

After receiving a message from Lt. Ek that he could not be here, funeral arrangements were made, the services to be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 P.M. at the Marion Hill Lutheran Church.
