Funeral services for prominent Sulphur business man, oilman and rancher, James R. Jack, 75, are pending with Cowley-Krien Funeral Home, Sulphur, Okla.

In lieu of flowers the family asked that memorials be made to the Sheppherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church Building Fund.

JAMES ROLAND JACK

James Roland Jack, 75, of Sulphur died suddenly Oct. 7, 2003. Funeral services were held Oct. 10 at the Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church.

He was born Oct. 11, 1927, in Sulphur, to Roland and Vera Cillian (James) Jack. He graduated from Dundee High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army. On Dec. 24, 1950, he married Loura Jean Chalfant of Cheyenne. In June 1954, he was awarded a degree in geology at the University of Oklahoma and began an active and life-long career in oil and gas exploration, development and production. Jack Exploration discovered and developed oil and gas fields in southern and northwestern Oklahoma and in southern Kansas. His avocations were cattle ranching, hunting and fly fishing. He built a well-recognized herd of Hereford cattle and developed several acreages during his lifetime.

He is survived by his wife; his children, Rosemary Talbott of Mobile, Ala., Clayton Jack of Sulphur, J. Wesley Jack of Oklahoma City and Amy Claire Jack of Nashville, Tenn., and grandchildren, Joanna and Madeline Jack of Sulphur and J. Rick William Jack and Jean Talbott of Mobile.

Cowley-Krien Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
