Ronald W. Baker, age 66, of Oquawka, Illinois; passed away at his residence in Bald Bluff township on Saturday evening, August 22nd, at 5:15 pm. Ron was born on August 22, 1943 in Greenbush Township of Warren County; and was the son of Donald Wayne Baker and Julia Irene VanVelsor. He was raised in Abingdon, Illinois where he attended the area schools. For many years Ronald was employed at Maytag in Galesburg, from which he retired. He most enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is survived by his brother Kendall Furniss and Shirley of Media, Illinois; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also an aunt Edna VanVelsor of St.Augustine, Illinois survives. Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, his foster father figure Gerald Preble, and two brothers, Donnie Baker and Robert Furniss.

Services: A graveside committal service is planned at the Avon Cemetery on Thursday August 27, at 11:00 am. Cremation has been accorded. No visitation or viewing is planned by his family. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established for St.Jude's Childrens
