Addie Mary Jane Grooms, daughter of the late Arthur W. Holman and Damie V. (Blankenship) Holman, was born April 7, 1904 in Oregon County, MO, and departed this life March 20, 1979 at the West Plains Memorial Hospital, at the age of 74 years.
She was united in marriage April 9, 1920 at Alton, MO to William Henry Grooms, who preceded her in death in 1965.
She was a member of the St. Paul's Methodist Church in Thayer.
She was the Chaplain of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #344 in Thayer; and member of the Fun and Friends Club in Thayer.
She is survived by two sons, Howard Grooms of Thayer, MO and Dwayne Grooms if South Bend, IN; two daughters, Mrs. Louis Coats of Thayer, MO and Mrs. Judith Reynolds of Thayer, MO; five brothers, J.V. "Pete" Holman of West Plains, MO; Edgar H. "Gube" Holman of Thomasville, MO; Elgin "Huse" Holman of Thomasville, MO; S.T. "Snipe" Holman of Alton, MO; and E.E. "Joe" Holman of Thayer, MO; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, her parents, one brother, three sisters, and two grandchildren preceded her in death.
Funeral services were Friday, March 23 at the Carter Chapel with Rev. Keith Williams and Rev. Richard Robinson officiating. Interment in Thayer Cemetery, under direction of the Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
