The Atlanta Constitution
4 July 1893
Death of Captain Allen.
Zebulon, Ga., July 3. - (Special.) - Captain A.S. Allen, and aged and highly respected citizen of Pike county, died rather suddenly at his home, three miles from here, this morning, complaining only a hour or two before his death of a pain in his chest. "Uncle Abe," as he was familiarly known, died as he had lived, an honest, upright Christian gentleman, and will be laid to rest tomorrow morning by the Montgomery Lodge of Free Masons, of which order he had been almost a life-long member. He was about eighty years old.
