Levona Laurine Kraklau, 87, of Brainerd, died July 26, 2004, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd. Levona was born March 26, 1917, in Grandin, Carter County, Missouri, not Loose Creek, Missouri like the rest of her siblings, daughter of Henry Joseph Hubert Bescheinen and Mary Josepha(Lock) Bescheinen.

The family moved to Harding when Levona was very young. She attended school at Harding, graduating from eighth grade.

On Nov. 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Leonard Kraklau. After their marriage they farmed south of Brainerd where she was a homemaker and they raised their family.

She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church and the local Birthday Club. Levona enjoyed gardening especially flowers and was known as the "Flower Lady." She also liked to make quilts.

Levona is survived by her children, Eugene Kraklau of Brainerd, Dennis Kraklau of Brainerd, Larry (Lynn) Kraklau of Mossine, Wis., Leonard Kraklau of Brainerd, Douglas (Debbie) Kraklau of Brainerd, Linda (Carl) Thesing of Fort Ripley; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mildred Bescheinen of Brainerd, Dora McFarlane of Colorado, Ivy Nelson of Grand Rapids, Eva Young of Brainerd and Pat Tenelio of Hawaii. Her husband, parents, three brothers and five sisters preceded her in death.
