Jack D. Waggoner, Brownsburg, formerly of Lizton, was called home to be with our Lord on Jan. 19, 2004. He was born to Herman and Grace Waggoner on Dec. 1, 1926. He was a graduate of Brownsburg High School and served in the U.S. Army. He married Elladean (Dean) Cross in 1950, his beloved wife of 53 years. In 1981, he retired from Switzer, after 30 years. A self-employed roofer, he was still roofing well into his sixties. After retirement, he worked at Sears Hardware. He was a member of Kingsway Christian Church. He was considered a mentor by many because of his positive attitude. Known as a person who feared nothing, he would even risk his own life to help others. Age was a state of mind to Mr. Waggoner, and he ran in the Mini-Marathon for the first time at age 75. He leaves behind his adoring wife, Dean; daughters, Linda (John) Woodburn, Sharon (Robert) Adams, and Julie (Leonard) Watson; grandchildren, Jason and Jamie Woodburn, Robert and Michael Adams, Jennifer Adams (Richard II) Taylor, Travis and Lukas Watson; great-grandson Richard Taylor III; brothers, Robert, James, Ben and Thomas Waggoner; sister June Ballard; many nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thur., Jan. 22 at Matthews Mortuary, Brownsburg, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wed., Jan. 21. Burial will be in Lizton K of P Cemetery.
