William H. Denison was born on January 1, 1871, and passed away in September 15, 1959, having attained the age of 88 years, 8 months and 15 days. He was the son of Admetus and Margaret Denison, descendants of a long line of distinguished pioneers, who were prominent in the colonization of the state of Connecticut.
As a young boy, Mr. Denison attended the common school near his home and as his education progressed he enrolled at Parker College in Winnebago, he being one of the first students on the grounds when that institution opened for business.
On August 24, 1898, he was united in marriage to Florence Griggs of Mapleton. To this Union were born three children, a son who died in infancy, Warren who passed away in 1958 and daughter Margaret (Mrs. William Ost).
Mr. Denison engaged in farming on the farm, which his father homesteaded in 1865. In these endeavors he met with more than ordinary success and took great pride in cattle-feeding operations connected with the farm.
He attended the Presbyterian Church in Amboy and was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Vernon Center Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife Florence, one daughter Margaret (Mrs. Wm. Ost of Minneapolis); one sister, Mrs. E. M. Niles of Seattle, Washington; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Warren Denison of Mankato; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
