He was reared on a farm near Minden and lived in the community throughout his life. He was baptized in the St. Paul Lutheran Church when a small boy and was later reconfirmed in the Presbyterian Church.
He was married to Mae Shafer on March 2, 1904. To this union eight children were born. Mr. Arent worked as a farmer before 1928 and at various forms of labor since that time. He was an enthusiastic sportsman.
Mr. Arent was united in marriage to Lucille Richardson April 16, 1928 and to this union was born a son, Larry.
This first wife, his parents, two brothers, one sister and one son preceded him in death.
